Preparation Staff asked 1 month ago

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It mainly affects the lungs but can spread to other parts of the body, such as the kidneys, spine, and brain.

How Does TB Spread?

  • Airborne Transmission – TB spreads when an infected person coughs, sneezes, talks, or spits, releasing bacteria into the air.

  • Close Contact – Spending long hours in crowded or poorly ventilated spaces increases the risk of infection.

  • Latent vs. Active TB – Some people carry the bacteria without symptoms (latent TB), while others develop symptoms (active TB).

Prevention of TB:

  1. Avoid Close Contact with infected individuals.

  2. Wear Masks in high-risk areas.

  3. Get Vaccinated (BCG Vaccine) to protect against severe forms of TB.

  4. Ensure Proper Ventilation in living spaces.

Early detection and treatment with antibiotics can cure TB and stop its spread.
