Composition : A Picnic Experience

A Picnic Experience

A picnic is an enjoyable outdoor meal, often part of a pleasure trip with friends or family. Every year, after our annual examinations, our school organizes a picnic to a new and interesting place. Last year, we went on a picnic to the historic town of Sonargaon. It was a day full of excitement, fun, and learning.

The plan for the picnic had been in place for quite some time. After our second term exams, we requested our teachers to organize a picnic, and they kindly agreed. December 30th was chosen as the day for the event.

On the morning of the picnic, we gathered at the school premises at around 8:30 AM. Three buses had been arranged to take us to our destination. We carried light snacks for breakfast and had made arrangements to cook lunch at the spot.

Sonargaon is about 70 kilometers from our school, and it took us around two hours to reach there. The journey itself was lively and filled with joy, as we sang songs and shared stories along the way. Some of our teachers also joined in, making the journey even more delightful.

We arrived at the picnic spot around 10:45 AM. The location was beautiful and perfect for a day out. We quickly began setting up and preparing for lunch. The cook and his helpers got to work, preparing delicious dishes like kachchi biryani and chicken fry, while some of us eagerly assisted.

By 3:00 PM, lunch was ready, and we all enjoyed the meal thoroughly. Everyone ate to their heart’s content.

After lunch, we arranged a cultural program that featured fun performances, impromptu speeches, jokes, and games. Even our teachers participated, which made it more entertaining and memorable. Later, our history teacher gave us a brief talk on the historical significance of Sonargaon, helping us learn about our rich cultural heritage.

Around 5:30 PM, we packed up and got ready to return. Before leaving, we were served sandwiches and oranges as refreshments. Our return journey began soon after, and we reached the school by 7:15 PM.

The picnic was truly a memorable experience. It gave us the chance to relax, bond with friends and teachers, and learn something new. We returned with happy hearts and unforgettable memories.

The Importance of Picnics in Our Lives

Human beings naturally dislike monotony. We are always in search of variety, which is rightly said to be the spice of life. At times, we feel the need to escape from the harsh realities and routines of our everyday lives. One of the most delightful ways to do so is by going on a picnic — a temporary retreat into nature or a quiet place, where we share meals and moments of joy, just like we do at home, but in a more relaxed and open environment.

Often, the noise and chaos of social life make us feel overwhelmed and exhausted. In such moments, we crave peace and solitude. A picnic offers just that. We gather in a remote or serene location, arrange a feast, and enjoy various forms of amusement. We roam freely, free from constraints, and embrace the experience with wholehearted joy.

In modern times, it has become common to bring along radios, transistors, loudspeakers, or record players to enhance the enjoyment. Singing, recitation, and light-hearted fun become essential parts of the celebration. Beyond the entertainment, the greatest reward of a picnic is the way it strengthens bonds among friends, classmates, or family members, and uplifts our minds and spirits with renewed energy.

Picnics serve as a pleasant and much-needed diversion. They break the dull routine of daily life and introduce a refreshing variety. They carry us away from the pressures of our regular existence and lead us into a world of joy and relaxation. In many ways, they work like a mental tonic — refreshing, revitalizing, and deeply satisfying.

In the hustle and bustle of life, we are constantly weighed down by responsibilities, worries, and anxieties. At times, this burden leads to mental fatigue and boredom. A picnic helps relieve these pressures by infusing our hearts with new joy and enthusiasm. It gives us an opportunity to reconnect with others, and more importantly, with ourselves. Once we return from a picnic, we often find ourselves ready to face the world again — with renewed energy and vigour.

Life is full of struggles and stress. So, it is wise and beneficial to go on picnics from time to time. They not only refresh our bodies but also rejuvenate our minds. In a world full of worries, a simple picnic can bring back our lost smiles and restore our inner peace.

A Memorable College Picnic

A picnic is an enjoyable outdoor meal, usually part of a pleasure trip to break away from routine life. Every year, after our annual examinations, our college organizes a picnic to a different location. Last year, we had the wonderful opportunity to visit Sonargaon, a place rich in historical significance. The experience was both exciting and enjoyable.

The plan for our college picnic was made well in advance. After our first-year examinations, we approached our teachers and requested them to arrange a picnic. They agreed, and 30th December was fixed as the day for the trip.

On the morning of the picnic, we gathered at the college premises by 8:30 AM. Three luxury buses had been hired to take us to the destination. We carried light snacks for breakfast and refreshments, and arrangements for cooking lunch at the spot had been made.

Sonargaon was about 70 kilometers away from our college, and it took us nearly two hours to reach. The journey was filled with joy—we sang songs, played games, and even the teachers joined in, making it more fun. Around 10:45 AM, we arrived at the beautiful picnic spot and immediately began preparing for the day.

Our lunch menu included delicious kachchi biryani and chicken fry, prepared on-site by a cook and his assistants. Some of us happily helped with the preparations. By 3:00 PM, the food was ready, and we all enjoyed a hearty meal, eating to our hearts’ content.

After the meal, we organized a lively cultural programme. The activities included extempore speeches, jokes, and various entertaining performances. Our teachers also joined in, adding to the fun and laughter. Following the programme, our history teacher gave us an informative briefing on the historical significance of Sonargaon, enriching our knowledge and deepening our appreciation for our cultural heritage.

At around 5:30 PM, we began preparing for the return journey. Before leaving, we were served sandwiches and oranges as evening snacks. We boarded our buses and headed back, reaching the college by 7:15 PM.

The picnic was truly a memorable experience. It gave us a much-needed break from academic life, brought us closer to our friends and teachers, and provided us with valuable insights into our heritage. We returned home refreshed, happy, and full of cherished memories.
