UN Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Dhaka on 13 March 2025 for a four-day official visit aimed at addressing the ongoing Rohingya refugee crisis. During his stay, Guterres met with Bangladesh's interim government head, Professor Muhammad Yunus, and other key officials to discuss the challenges faced by the over one million Rohingya refugees residing in Cox's Bazar. A significant focus of the visit was the alarming reduction in humanitarian aid, which has led to severe food shortages among the refugees. Guterres described these aid cuts as "a crime" and called for increased international support to alleviate the suffering of the displaced population.
