Dengue fever is a viral disease. It is caused by the Dengue virus. This virus is transmitted through mosquito bites. Aides mosquitoes are mainly responsible for this disease. This virus spreads among people through the bite of an infected Aides mosquito. Symptoms generally begin three to fourteen days after infection. These symptoms include a high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, muscle and joint pains, skin rash, etc. In few cases, this disease can cause severe dengue hemorrhagic fever. It can even cause death. Paracetamol is recommended for fever reduction and pain relief. Taking sufficient rest is also important. Aides mosquitoes generally lay eggs on clean and standing water. So to prevent this disease, we should destroy mosquito habitat. The authorities can take a hand in this regard. However, everyone's awareness against dengue fever is necessary to prevent the outbreak of this disease.
