A street accident is a very common incident in our country. The main causes of street accidents are reckless driving, brake failures of vehicles, overtaking, driving by unskilled drivers, violation of traffic rules etc. However, recently I witnessed a terrible street accident at Farmgate in Dhaka. A rickshaw-puller was pulling two college girls to Farmgate. At that time, a pick-up van pushed the rickshaw from behind. Then and there the two girls were run over by the van. They were spot dead. But the rickshaw-puller escaped narrowly. The driver of the van also fled away. The road was covered with blood. Meanwhile, the police came to the spot. They seized the van and sent the dead bodies to the hospital for autopsy. I got dumb for a moment. My heart was throbbing. I somehow returned home. To stop street accidents measures must be taken. Unskilled drivers should. not be given any license. And the authorities should be more strict to enforce the traffic rules.
