A Railway Station

A railway station is a very important place for railway communication. It is a place where trains stop and start from. The passengers of a train get into or get down from a train at a railway station. It has one or more red buildings. They are generally made of brick. From a distance, one can see the green and red signals and red buildings of a station. It has some rooms. Some of them are the waiting rooms for male and female passengers. There are a ticket counter, a booking office for goods, the station master's room, some tea stalls, other stalls, etc, in a railway station. Here many hawkers are found shouting the names of their goods and selling them. Here, railway porters are found looking for the passengers to carry their goods. In every railway station, there are two or more railway lines (or, tracks). Near the station, there are two signal posts with red and green signals. The points man maintains the signals. রেলওয়ে যোগাযোগের জন্য রেলওয়ে স্টেশন একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্থান। এই স্থানেই ট্রেন থামে এবং এখান থেকে যাত্রা করে। রেল স্টেশনে যাত্রীরা ট্রেন হতে নামে এবং ওঠে। এর এক বা একাধিক লাল রঙের দালান রয়েছে। এগুলো সাধারণত ইটের তৈরি। দূর হতে যে কেউ এর লাল ও সবুজ সংকেত এবং লাল দালানগুলো দেখতে পারে। এর কতকগুলো কক্ষ রয়েছে। এর মধ্যে কতকগুলো পুরুষ ও মহিলাদের "ওয়েটিং রুম"। সেখানে একটি টিকিট কাউন্টার, মালপত্র বুকিং-এর কাউন্টার, স্টেশন মাস্টারের কক্ষ, কিছু চা স্টল, অন্যান্য দোকান ইত্যাদি রয়েছে। এখানে অনেক হকারদেরকে দেখা যায় যারা তাদের পণ্যের নাম ধরে চেঁচামেচি করে এবং সেগুলো বিক্রি করে। এখানে রেলওয়ে কুলিরা মালামাল বহন করার জন্য খদ্দের খুঁজতে থাকে। প্রতি রেলস্টেশনেই দুই বা ততোধিক রেল লাইন থাকে। রেলস্টেশনের নিকটেই লাল ও সবুজ রঙবিশিষ্ট দুটি সিগন্যাল পোস্ট থাকে। পয়েন্ট ম্যান সিগন্যালগুলোকে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করে। সে লাল ও সবুজ পতাকা হাতে প্লাটফরমে দৌড়াদৌড়ি করে। রেল স্টেশনের ঠিক বাইরেই রিকসা, অটোরিকসা, টেম্পু ও অন্যান্য যানবাহনের স্ট্যান্ড রয়েছে। ট্রেন আসার পূর্বে যাত্রীগণ লাইনে দাঁড়িয়ে তাদের টিকেট সংগ্রহ করে। ট্রেন যখন রেল স্টেশনে আসে তখন সেটি ব্যস্ত ও কোলাহলপূর্ণ হয়ে উঠে। কিছু যাত্রী ট্রেনে ওঠে এবং কিছু ট্রেন হতে নেমে পড়ে। যখন ট্রেন রেল স্টেশন ত্যাগ করে তখন এটি খুবই শান্ত ও নির্জন হয়ে পড়ে- মাঝে মাঝে, এটাকে মরুভূমির মতো নির্জন মনে হয়।
