My First Day at School

Introduction: The first day at school is one of the most memorable events in one's life. It is no doubt an exciting one for all. I am not an exception (ব্যতিক্রম) in this regard. So the memory of my first day at school is still vivid (সজীব) in my heart.

Memorable events: At the age of five I was taken to Panjia High School to get myself admitted in the primary section of the school. I was told about this a few days ago. So I was feeling very excited. On the fixed day, my father took me to the school. It was not so far from our house. We went there on foot. I held my father's finger all the way.

Joining the school: A few minutes later we reached the school compound (প্রাঙ্গণ), My father took me to the headmaster. He was very friendly to my father. The Headmaster asked me my name and some other simple questions. I could answer all his questions. Then he took me to my class and it was class (1).

The atmosphere of the class: I entered into my class taking permission from the class teacher. The class teacher welcomed me with a smiling face. Then he introduced me to the class and told me to take a seat. He also enlisted my name in his attendance book. There were about thirty to forty children in the class room. They all were about of my age. I was a little bit nervous at first. Gradually I started feeling quite at ease. One of the boys bockoned (ইশারা করল) me to sit beside him. Later he became one of my bosom friends. This class was an English class. And the teacher taught us English alphabet and words. After that there came some other teachers. They also took their classes impressively (আকর্ষণীয়ভাবে).

New feelings and experience: This day was a day of getting and enjoying newer feelings and experience. Especially, the nice and friendly atmosphere and the ardent attitude of the teachers and some of my same-aged classmates charmed and wondered me much.

Conclusion: The first day of my school opened a new era in my life. In fact, it was the beginning of my life-building mission. It influenced me in my future life.

সূচনা: স্কুলে প্রথম দিন একজনের জীবনে অন্যতম স্মরণীয় ঘটনা। সন্দেহ নেই এটা সকলের জন্য একটি রোমাঞ্চকর ঘটনা। এক্ষেত্রে আমিও ব্যতিক্রম নই। তাই স্কুলে আমার প্রথম দিনের স্মৃতি এখনও আমার মনে সজীব হয়ে আছে।

স্মরণীয় ঘটনাসমূহ: পাঁচ বছর বয়সে আমাকে পাঁজিয়া স্কুলে নেয়া হয়েছিল সেখানকার প্রাথমিক সেকশনে ভর্তি করানোর জন্য। অল্প কয়েকদিন আগেই আমাকে এ সম্বন্ধে বলা হয়েছিল। তাই আমি খুব উত্তেজিত বোধ করছিলাম। নির্ধারিত দিনে আমার পিতা আমাকে স্কুলে নিয়ে গেলেন। এটা আমাদের বাড়ি থেকে বেশি দূরে ছিল না। আমরা পায়ে হেঁটে সেখানে গিয়েছিলাম। আমি পুরো পথ আমার বাবার হাতের আঙুল ধরে রেখেছিলাম।

স্কুলে যোগদান: কয়েক মিনিট পর আমরা স্কুল প্রাঙ্গণে পৌঁছলাম। আমার বাবা আমাকে প্রধান শিক্ষকের কাছে নিয়ে গেলেন। তিনি আমার বাবার প্রতি খুব বন্ধুবৎসল ছিলেন। প্রধান শিক্ষক আমার নাম এবং কয়েকটি সহজ প্রশ্ন জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন। আমি তাঁর সব প্রশ্নের উত্তর দিতে পেরেছিলাম। তখন তিনি আমাকে আমার ক্লাশে নিয়ে গেলেন এবং এটা ছিল প্রথম শ্রেণী (ক্লাশ ওয়ান)।

ক্লাশের/ শ্রেণীর পরিবেশ: শ্রেণী-শিক্ষকের অনুমতি নিয়ে আমি শ্রেণীতে/ ক্লাশে ঢুকলাম। শ্রেণীশিক্ষক আমাকে হাসিমুখে স্বাগত জানালেন। এরপর তিনি আমাকে শ্রেণীর ছাত্রছাত্রীদের সাথে পরিচয় করিয়ে দিলেন এবং আমাকে আসন গ্রহণ করতে বললেন। তিনি উপস্থিতির খাতায় আমার নামও তালিকাভুক্ত করলেন। ক্লাশে প্রায় ৩০ থেকে ৪০ জন ছাত্রছাত্রী ছিল। তারা সকলেই প্রায় আমার বয়সী ছিল।

প্রথমে আমি কিছুটা নার্ভাস ছিলাম। ক্রমশ আমি স্বস্তি অনুভব করতে লাগলাম। এক ছেলে ইশারায় আমাকে তার পাশে বসতে বলল। পরবর্তীতে সে আমার অন্যতম ঘনিষ্ঠ বন্ধুতে পরিণত হলো। ক্লাশটি ছিল ইংরেজির ক্লাশ। আর শিক্ষক আমাদেরকে ইংরেজি বর্ণমালা এবং শব্দ পড়ালেন। এরপর অন্যান্য শিক্ষকরাও এলেন। তারাও চমৎকারভাবে তাদের ক্লাশ নিলেন।

নতুন অনুভূতি ও অভিজ্ঞতা: দিনটি ছিল নতুন নতুন অনুভূতি ও অভিজ্ঞতা পাওয়ার ও উপভোগের দিন। বিশেষত, চমৎকার ও বন্ধুভাবাপন্ন পরিবেশ এবং শিক্ষক ও আমার সমবয়সী সহপাঠিদের আন্তরিক আচরণ আমাকে খুব মুগ্ধ ও আশ্চর্য করেছিল।

উপসংহার: স্কুলে আমার প্রথম দিন আমার জীবনে এক নতুন যুগের সূচনা করল। বস্তুত, এটা ছিল আমার জীবন গঠনের জন্য মিশনের শুরু। এটা আমার ভবিষ্যৎ জীবনকে প্রভাবিত করেছিল।

Enrolling in the School: On the fixed day. I went to school with my father and was enrolled in the class one in Panjia Govt. Primary School. The teachers were friendly, and the school looked very big and beautiful. I was eager to start my studies and make new friends.
