Write a composition on "A Village Market" in 250 words.
A Village Market
Introduction: A village market is a buying and selling place of the villagers.
Location: A village market generally sits by the riverside or the roadside under a banyan tree. Kinds of village market: There are two kinds of village market. They are 'Hat' and 'Bazar'. The daily market is called the 'Bazar'. On the contrary, the market which is held once or twice a week is called 'Hat'. The daily market sits daily in the morning. On the contrary, the weekly market sits once or twice a week in the evening.
Description/ Arrangement of shops/ Commodities available: Usually a village market has three parts. They are open space, temporary (অস্থায়ী) shed and permanent (স্থায়ী) shed. On market days the shops are arranged in rows according to things for sale. Fish, milk, fruit, betels and vegetables are sold in open space. All these shops are mostly temporary. Grocers, cloth dealers, tailors, potters have permanent shops. There is also a particular place of selling cows and goats.
Importance/ Usefulness: The village market is very useful to the villagers. Here they get all things of their daily need. It saves the villagers from going to distant places to buy things. The villagers sell their crops and other goods here easily. They also get news from here. The postman delivers letters here. In fact, a village market is the meeting place of the villagers.
Disadvantages/ Demerits/ Drawbacks: A village market has some drawbacks (অসুবিধা) too. In a village market all kinds of people gather there. Thus a noisy environment is created. Sometimes the pickpockets (পকেটমার) also gather there.
Conclusion: A village market is very useful to the villagers. It is the centre of rural economy. It is a part and parcel of village life.
