The Crows

Introduction: The crow is the most common bird both in villages and towns. It is found and seen almost everywhere around us. So it is familiar (পরিচিত) to almost everyone of us. In fact, crows play a very important role in the environment.

Kinds: There are various kinds of crows. Of them the raven, the rook, the jackdaw, the carrion etc are commonly seen. The carrion and the rook are mostly seen in the urban areas. And the raven and the jackdaw are common in rural areas. Crows are of ideal black irrespective of their sizes or kinds.

Its nature: The crow is a very ugly bird to look at. Its voice is also ugly and harsh. Its ugly appearance and harsh voice annoy us all. But the crow is very cunning (ধৃত) in nature. It always roams in search of food. It is very tactful in snatching foodstuffs. It often enters into our houses and steals things for food. Sometimes it snatches (ছিনিয়ে নেয়) food from our hands especially from the kids.

Its life: The crow builds nest and lays eggs in it. It also hatches (তা দেয়) the eggs here. At night crows live in groups on tall trees. They lead a real social life. They show a very strong unity and fellow feelings. If one of them fall in danger, the others come together to help it.

Its foolishness: Despite being a cunning bird, the crow often shows a very foolish attitude. There is a very funny thing about the crow. It is easily cheated by the cuckoo. The cuckoo lays eggs in crows' nest. But the crow never realises the trick of the cuckoo. It hatches the eggs of the cuckoo and brings up the kids of the cuckoo till they are recognizable.

Its importance: The crow plays a very important role in keeping our environment (পরিবেশ) clean by eating the dirty things. It is in fact acts as the nature's scavenger (অবম্ভরক). Because it clears away a lot of rubbish and rotten things lying around us.

Conclusion: Crows are one of most important parts of our natural environment. They help us in various ways. They are ugly in appearance and their tune is so harsh to hear. But their role in keeping the environment clean cannot be neglected anyhow. So crows are no doubt our good friends.

কাক

সূচনা: গ্রামাঞ্চল ও শহরাঞ্চল উভয় স্থানেই কাক সবচেয়ে বেশি পরিচিত পাখি। এটিকে আমাদের চারপাশের প্রায় সর্বত্রই দেখা যায়। তাই, এটি আমাদের প্রায় সবার কাছেই পরিচিত। আসলে কাক আমাদের পরিবেশে এক অতি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে।

প্রকারভেদ: অনেক ধরনের কাক রয়েছে। তাদের মধ্যে দাঁড়কাক, পাতি কাক, বৃহদাকার কুচকুচে কালো কাক, গলিতশব ভক্ষণকারী কাক সচরাচর দেখা যায়। বৃহদাকার কুচকুচে কালো কাক ও গলিত শব ভক্ষণকারী কাকগুলোকে সাধারণত শহরাঞ্চলে দেখা যায়। আর দাঁড়কাক ও পাতিকাক গ্রামাঞ্চলে দেখা যায়। কাক আকৃতি ও প্রকারভেদ নির্বিশেষে কালো রঙের হয়ে থাকে।

এর স্বভাব: কাক দেখতে বিশ্রী এক পাখী। এর কণ্ঠস্বর ও কদর্য ও কর্কশ। এর কদর্য চেহারা ও কর্কশ কণ্ঠস্বর আমাদের সকলকে বিরক্ত করে থাকে। তবে স্বভাবগতভাবে কাক খুব ধূর্ত। সর্বদাই এটি খাদ্যের সন্ধানে ঘুরে বেড়ায়। খাদ্য ছিনিয়ে নিতে এটি খুব পটু। এটা প্রায়ই আমাদের বাসাবাড়িতে ঢুকে পড়ে আর খাবার হিসেবে বিভিন্ন সামগ্রী চুরি করে। কখনো কখনো এটি আমাদের বিশেষ করে শিশুদের হাত থেকে খাবার ছিনিয়ে নিয়ে যায়।

এর জীবন: কাক বাসা বাঁধে ও তাতে তার ডিম পাড়ে। এটি এখানে ডিম তাপ দেয়। রাতে কাক লম্বা গাছে দলবেঁধে রাত্রী যাপন করে। তারা প্রকৃত সামাজিক জীবন যাপন করে। তারা প্রবল একতা ও ভাতৃত্ববোধ প্রদর্শণ করে থাকে। যদি. তাদের কোনো একজন কোনো বিপদে পড়ে তবে অন্যরা একত্রে তাকে সাহায্য করতে এগিয়ে আসে।

এর মুর্খতা/ বোকামী: ধূর্ত পাখী হওয়া সত্ত্বেও, প্রায়ই কাক তার মূর্খতা প্রদর্শন করে থাকে। কাকের ব্যাপারে বেশ মজার গল্প রয়েছে। এটি সহজেই কোকিলের দ্বারা প্রতারিত হয়। কোকিল কাকের বাসায় ডিম পাড়ে। তবে কাক 'কোকিলের সে চালাকি কখনোই ধরতে পারে না। এটি কোকিলের ডিমে তাপ দেয় আর চিনবার মত বয়স না হওয়া পর্যন্ত বাচ্চাগুলো লালন পালন করে থাকে। 

এর গুরুত্ব: কাক ময়লা আবর্জনা খেয়ে আমাদের পরিবেশকে, পরিচ্ছন্ন থাকতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখে। এটি আসলে প্রকৃতির অবস্করক হিসেবে কাজ করে। কারণ আমাদের চারপাশে পড়ে থাকা প্রচুর পরিমাণ আবর্জনা ও পঁচা সামগ্রী এটি পরিষ্কার করে।

উপসংহার: আমাদের প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশের এক অতি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ কাক। তারা আমাদেরকে বিভিন্নভাবে সাহায্য করে। চেহারায় তারা কদর্য আর কণ্ঠস্বরে কর্কশ। তবে পরিবেশ পরিষ্কার করার ক্ষেত্রে তাদের ভূমিকা কোনোভাবেই অস্বীকার করা যায় না। সুতরাং, কাক নিঃসন্দেহে আমাদের বন্ধু।
